Flora and Fauna

The American Coot (Fulica americana) is actually in the Rail family but acts much like waterfowl species such as Northeen Shovelers, Mallard ducks, etc. They have some of the oddest body shapes for a creature out there with a small head with red eyes, a large inky-colored body with large unwebbed feet and a call like a small trumpet....

At 16:09 Aug 23rd, 2020 I saw my first American Mink (Neovison vison). I previously thought this critter to be the elusive and more terrestrial, Humboldt/Pacific Marten (Martes caurina ) but after a debate with a Humboldt local and mammal behavioral ecologist, discovered it was most likely the mink.
