An Introduction

Hi, I'm Jess! I have always had an unshakable desire to study the natural world. I grew up with an exceptional contrast of worlds. I got to experience world travel and witness many different cultures and terrains across twenty-six countries spanning Europe and Asia. In contrast I had a more permanent home on the Outskirts of Davis, CA living next to a couple of unoccupied fields. Between these worlds, I got the chance to develop a deep fascination for wildlife interactions. This fascination ultimately had driven me to apply for my undergrad in wildlife conservation and restoration ecology.
I would like to think my constant drive to travel and observe has never diminished. These days, I travel across California every few months. I hike various hills, mountainsides, beaches, and deserts whenever I get the chance. In the past, I would post quite a bit on Instagram and sometimes write lengthy descriptions of what I'm witnessing in the great outdoors. I realized I'm basically blogging on there! So I thought, what's the harm of actually creating a blog? So here is my little summer project. I want to see just how long I can do this for and if it could actually inspire others to explore the natural world.
In the latter end of my undergrad I was looking for ways I could apply my newfound skills and passion for the natural world.
Now that I've graduated, with my diploma,
I pledge to thoroughly investigate and take into account the social and environmental consequences of any job opportunity that I consider. And I pledge to teach my friends and family (especially children) about plants and animals.
This pledge certainly has influenced my next chapter in life.
Besides working in conservation and hiking, in my free time I like to sketch or craft, find new ways to incorporate a more sustainable lifestyle, and of course reading up on new spots to explore and ID wildlife.
So, if you're looking for good hiking spots and tips, have an interest in wildlife or sustainable living or simply want to connect with another nature lover, you have come to the right place.
